A midwifes hack to relieving a blocked milk duct

“Have you ever had a blocked duct?
The early days of your breastfeeding journey can be filled with beautiful moments but you may also encounter sore nipples and even blocked ducts.
A blocked duct is a back up of milk that has not been effectively drained from the breast via feeding/expressing.
You may feel a bit of a fullness in this area or even a lump.
Our natural Epsom salts are not just for bath time! You can also use them to help alleviate a blocked duct.
Here's how to do it:
Fill your Haakaa with enough warm water to make contact with your nipple (not boiling!).
Add one or two tablespoons of Epsom Salts to your haakaa.
Attach your Haakaa to the blocked breast and allow the combination of heat, the salts and suction to help remove the clog.
Keep the pump attached for around 10-15 minutes.
For stubborn blocked ducts you may need to repeat 1-2 times.
